Hmm... 120/day for 15+ years = more than 650,000 miles! |

I know of an older E23 735 with more miles than that on it, so it could be |
theoretically possible.
(Try achieving that in your Renault or Citroen!)

I knew of a Citroen BX with 450,000 miles on it. Not sure *why* anyone
would want to run one of those to that mileage though! |

Christ! Wonder how much in repair bills that works out at?
The old E23 above has had *one* head rebuild with new cam and followers, a
water pump, 2 radiators and one new clutch in addition to the usual wearing
parts like brakes etc, and has so far racked up about 680k+.
How's the E34 going btw?

Until the suspension rot sets in or the electric fan fails and the head
warps those cars are tough- with the XUD engine. Marvelous agricultural
diesel lump!
Suspension's good enough but I'm glad I don't have one anymore! The
E34's fine- a few small jobs in the to do list:
- Front dampers (just got to find time- replacing the starter clutch on
my K100 at the moment; a big job)
- Thermostat (not a big issue since I only use the E34 on long journeys;
time again although I want to fix it before I stuff the cat...).
- Central locking actuator on drivers door.
- Tailgate 'switch' to open the tailgate without the key.
That's about it. In pretty good shape really. Very comfortable car,
it's only when I look at the fuel consumption that I wish I'd got the
diesel! |

I don't think either has been imported into the U.S. for a number of years.
Back in the day, my daughter learned how to drive a manual transmission on a
R5 ("LeCar") that I owned. She has since learned that in normal cars, you
don't have to remove the radio to shift into 3rd - but it was touch and go
for awhile!

I don't think that recent(ish) Citroens suffer greatly from rust-
they've plenty of other faults but rust isn't one I've seen (then again
I've only owned about three of them and done around 250,000 miles in
them). |
