boxster emblem |

i removed the black *boxster* emblem off the back trunk cos it was
partially broken anyway, and like the look of the back now without it.
the problem is the paint is darker where the emblem was. any
suggestions other than replacing what i removed with another? thanks,
myraide

You may have 2 separate problems here:
1. The base coat could be slightly darker
2. The clear coat could also be slightly denser
If the color difference is obvious, you may try one of the very, very
non-abrasive surface cleaner/scratch removers. There are several good
ones...Meguirars (sp), and numerous others. Use just a very tiny amount
with a very soft cloth (diaper soft). And this may help some by cleaning
the clear coat.
Of course, there's no way you can...or would want to affect the color base
coat. So, if after a little work on the clear coat, the color difference is
still evident, you have 2 choices:
1. Forget it...letting the natural light over the next few months maybe do
the job for you.
2. Replace the Boxster emblem.
Note: Silver or blue-silver are going to exhibit the most visible
differences because they are mostly "shades of gray" with little
"chroma"....and our eyes are very sensitive to slight
differences...especially in specific lighting conditions.
Good luck....

my boxster is purple. a ninety eight. and is out in the sun every
summer without cover so the overall paint has faded. i will see what it
looks like at the end of this coming summer....of course i could always
put a cayenne emblem on it! (just to be amusing/confusing)
thanks! myraide

Yep, only thing to do is give the surrounding area, and the darkened area, a
good compound buffing job, then let the sun do its thing on the darker side |

i am a bit concerned about the paint looking *hazy* in the area that
will be buffed. and there is not a darker side just dark where the
emblem was on the trunk. i am unsure about doing this. i cant afford a
new paint job or anything major because i need a new back window first
and an oil change and the locks are doing weird things too. myraide |
