'93 CAMRY 2200 Head Removal Question |
|
|
I am attempting to remove the cylinder head from a 1993 Camry 2.2L
The first problem is that I cannot figure out how to lift the head and
inlet manifold assembly from the motor as there is a major wiring
harness running through the assembly and it looks impossible to
extricate it. There are two wires (from the harness) running down
behind the motor (at the timing belt end of the motor) that I cannot
get to. There is also another wire from the harness a little further
towards the centre running down behind the motor that I cannot reach.
The other end of the main harness does not have a plug so cant be
disconnected.
Any help with this would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Phill.

You will need to remove the Intake manifold, or at least disconnect it
from the head and let the braces support it. |

Thanks Mark. It sounds so easy :-) Getting the hands in there to do
it will be fun..... a job for my wife? (small hands)
Thanks again,
Phill.

Remove the glove box and disconnect ECU
harness from ECU, Under the hood pull the harness through the firewall.
Disconnect any incidental connectors from the harness i.e. (MAF, distributor
etc.) and remove head with harness. |

Thanks. That sounds like it would have been the simplest. |
The deed is done however, and it proved to be do-able leaving the
intake manifold on the head and undoing the harness wires that are
bolted to the underside of the inlet manifold from under the vehicle.
The most dificult thing took 25 minutes and that was getting the
connector off the oil pressure sender unit under the back of the
motor.
Next time I might try doing it your way.
Thanks again.
