Can anyone identify this car? Also, is there a way to find out who owned
the car (or other information) by the license plate? It has a Pennsylvania
license plate that appears to be from 1920 (according to information at:
http://bellsouthpwp.net/r/k/rkretsch/LPpapass.htm#pass06-09 )

Small version: http://home.cwru.edu/~bct4/Unknown_002_small.png (270KB)
High-res version: http://home.cwru.edu/~bct4/Unknown_002.png (4MB)

From other discussions I've had, people have said that it is not a Dodge,
Oldsmobile, Star, Durant, Gray Dort, or Elgin Motor Car.

Thanks.

I thought it looks like the car driving past
the Treasury building on the back of the
US Five dollar bill and I think that car is
a Hupmobile.

Mr Changstein,
That is not the standing mans tie.
That is his tongue hanging out from
working said crank.

Actually, the car on the money is "generic", according to the US Mint.

I thought Hupmobile until I grabbed some photos; Hupps had a straight line
across the top of the rad. It's bugging me, because I've seen a real version
of the car in the photo, and I can't think what it was.

Thanks Rabbit for not reminding me
that the car on the back of the US bill
is on a Ten not a Five.......The back of the Five has the name of the
states on the
Lincoln Memorial......

Yeah, well, don't be too nice to me. I just remembered it being a generic
car, not what bill it's on. My ten-spot has the war memorial and "In
Flanders Fields" on the back; my fiver has children playing hockey.

Getting back to Brians photo, I am looking
at the round emblem on the radiator, the
shape and frame of the windshield, the oval rear window, the extra
reinforcement
on the front fender edge and the headlight
and license bar height.
It all says twenties Dodge Brothers.
Take a vote on that one.

I was thinking that too, but didn't he say the plate was from 1920? That

would mean it would have to be older than that, and the photos I have show
more of a square rad, with the surround painted body color, not brightwork.

From another discussion, I have been told: "It's not a Dodge Bros., the top
of the radiator shell is too round."

Yeah, the plate is from 1920, and they were renewed every year, so the car
is at the latest from 1921 probably.

Also from another discussion, I've been told that Dodge had a higher crown
to the fenders.

I'm tempted to say Oldsmobile, except that the rad badge is too round. The
rad shell sure matches, though.

Others have said that it was Olds but then changed their mind as well. So
far the models that people have decided it ISN'T are: Dodge,
Oldsmobile, Star, Durant, Gray Dort, or Elgin Motor Car. The radiator
emblem also different from the Hupmobile design, so I don't think it's that
either.

Hupmobile emblem design:

he's driving with expired plates.. :-)
