Change it just before it breaks :-)
You'd probably be very unlucky if you stuck to 60k and had one break on you.
But the belt itself is only half of the story. If the belt drives the water
pump (as it does on most if not all Audis) then the pump will break the belt
(or strip its teeth) if the pump seizes. BTDT...

Throw some numbers up in the air and what your left with is the recomended
service date for timing belt change.
The long and short of it is, stick to 60k if you can afford it.
Here is the Audi Official times, according to a UK manual
40k miles - RS4/ 2.7 V6 biturbo
60k miles - TDI Engines
80k miles - 2.4 V6 /3.0V6 /V6 TDI
115k miles - 1.8 4-cylinder engines / 2.0 4 cylinder engines |

The official word is:
http://www.bentleypublishers.com/tech/audi/
But knowing the history of frequent premature TB/tensioner failures,
especially on the 1.8T engines, every 60K miles or 4-5 years would be a
safer bet.
Cheers,
