Hi - can anyone tell me the trick or tool that one has to use to remove
the interior handles/cranks from a late 50s ford - I tried using one of
the notched flat bars that works for GM cars but no luck

Also is there any particular trick to removing the distributor from a
332 engine - I took the lock nut off but when I tried to lift it out it
doesn't move

Thanks for any help

If I remember right Ford used a screw going through the handle into

the regulator shaft to hold the handles on. The screw head was covered
by a stick on or snap on cover.

The clip notch on older Ford handles does not go all the way through the
handle like GM and other make handles, which is why you can't push it off
with taht type of tool. You need a "pliers type" clip remover that can
grab the clip and pull it off, or make a small hook out of some small stiff
wire- like a ground down piece of radio antenna- to try and pull it off.

Does the distributor turn when loosened? If it doesn't, it has probably
"welded" itself into the block (dissimilar metals) like the one in my '54's
239. Soak it down good with penetrant for a day or two and work it loose
gradually, then clean it up with emery or fine sandpaper before putting it
back in. I coated mine with anti-seize when I did mine years ago, and so
far so good.
