Was looking at a used '00 Solara and noticed some water or condensation in the
headlight.
Just wondering if I would have to replace the whole light assembly. I assume I
would.
Wondering if anyone would know the cost, if I were to buy it. I'm sure I would
not pass the state inspection with the light in that condition.
-Thank you

IF, you don't see a hole in the front, chances are its a leak around the
bulb.

I had it happen on a brand "X" car where I didn't get it turned quite far
enough and it would suck moisture in.

I pulled out bulb, and dried out interior of housing. (I used a hair drier
after pulling battery out of the way ) Put the damned thing on right and
never had problem again.

(It was behind battery and a bitch to turn)

Turn on the headlights and see if it goes away. Some manufacturers design
their lights thusly.

You must live in Mass....

You might luck out and find the leak, you may even be able to plug it! But
the track record for this is not good...

Esp if you live in Mass...

What a PITA! In Mass, even if you have just MOISTURE in the lens, it's a
reject!

The auto repair facilities obviously have a strong lobby in Mass!

Yeah!

I sure do miss having the gubmint take care of us dumb folk. and the kind,
thoughtful insurance companies that wanted to charge $2,400/year to insure
a 7 year old Cressida because we had a teen age driver 10 years ago. We
miss out here in the midwest where we had to insure 3 cars with 2 drivers
under 25 years old to top that premium!

Personally I don't see a lot wrong with insurance companies
soaking the under 25 age group, who, after all, causes them the
most 'pay out claims'? I'd think that the age of the car has only
a small part to do with the amount of the risk in providing
insurance...can you imagine how many peoples' premiums it'd take
to pay for just one lost court case involving an insured driver
being sued for a million bucks?...

I agree that it is logical for insurance companies to charge higher premiums
based on risk and likelihood of a payout.

My point was the disparity in premiums between Massachusetts, where I was
insuring 1 car (the other 2 were company cars) with 1 driver under 25 years
old for only a little less than I'm paying 10 years later in Illinois for 3
cars and 2 under-25 drivers.
