keep it basically stock and i know there are different types of insignias
for the T-3's on the face of the headlamps, i just don't know which ones are
correct for my year car. is there anyway to find out?

I honestly do not know.... But I have a good number of T-3's all out
of 68 to 72 Chevelles and the markings are all exactly the same...
I was not aware that they were different markings ...

There was a corvette site that had the differences spelled out, there are at
least 3 and I'm thinking 5 different T-3's. I did a quick search and
couldn't seem to find it, maybe it has been taken down. Anything I could add
is just speculation from a cluttered mind.
PS. I had a bushel basket of them in the garage, my 61 had 2 T-3 highs and 2
replaced lows. I went through 7 and they all burned no more than 15 minutes
before clouding and smoking. If you buy used ones, don't pay a whole lot for
them or only use them for show. The reproductions bring about $25 a piece.
I'm running halogen lows to hell with the T-3's I'll take the points
deduction.

Whew.... I learned a little about T-3 which I will soon forget but
what the heck...

Anyway I did a quickie search and:

I think the site is the NCRS site (National Corvette Restores
Society).... www.ncrs.org.... but you may have to dig deep to find out
the differences,....verticle lines inside the triangle yada yada..for
some years other years not....

Honestly I have no desire to play by their rules...and I am not into
this type of judging...I want to drive the cars ..even at night...
give me halogens and like Danno said...the hell with the points...

Enjoy

thanks for the replies guys, it's appreciated. i'm not really into judging
too much either, it's just i'm trying to keep it as stock as possible. i
ordered a set of T-3 repos. from Year One after thinking on whether or not
to do it.

what i'm really wondering is what was it about T3 head lamps, were the the
only ones to make light for GM or were they just the company that supplied
GM w/ the head lamps for new cars.

thanks...

Mike,
BINGO
when you said..."what I'm really wondering is what was it about T3 head
lamps, were the
only ones to make light for GM or were they just the company that supplied
GM w/ the head lamps for new cars."

Actually, they wer a subsidiary or call it a authorized supplier, or
whatever marketed under the name of GUIDE, in the 70's GM took them fully
under their wing and they were officially called GM DELCO, not that they
weren't Delco Tungsol version 3 before (T-3). it was just more evident.
