Have recently bought 996 2001 coupe. Its great apart from seat comfort! Am 5 feet 7 inches, getting really bad ache in lower back despite varying seat height, back rest angle etc. Any tips? Can you alter the height of the front of the seat rather than just the back? Thanks

I have a 2002 996 coupe.

I think Porsche offered an option that would lower the entire seat by
10MM - if they accomplished this by removing spacers you might be able
to do the same. Your dealer or service provider might know for sure.

Rennlist.com is a good source of info - they have forums devoted to
specific models and somebody there probably has a definitive answer.

I'm surprised at your discomfort - I'm 6'2" and the Porsche is heaven on
long trips for me.........

I...ummmm...use a back pillow. Hey! I have a bad low-back (my front
ain't so good, either!) and it gives me *much* better support. It's a
little bean-bag style pillow and works very well. It's also black which
matches the interior. Find a "Relax-the-Back" store or equivalent and
they'll have something.

Can you play any games with *tilt*? I find it really helps to adjust
the front of the seat up/down until you find a better position.
Although I've always found Porsche has the most comfortable seats in the
industry. I couldn't believe how comfortable my '62 356 was on long
trips. Of course, that was compared to the '65 Mustang I had that I
threw rocks at after driving the Porsche. :-)
