Clicking noise on LHS of '98 323i E36 coupe |

I have a 98 323i Coupe E36. About every 5 sec or so I hear a very slight
"click" (or maybe "double-click" ?) apparently coming somewhere from the
left of the car. It's a slight noise and can only really hear it when the
car is stationary. It's really difficult to say much more. Just wondering if
anyone has any idea?
