transmission check
I took my car into a well known transmission business for a check. One of the "checks" was: to place the car in gear; hold the brake; then run rpms up (I don't recall exactly how high) I think it was regular cruising rpms.
Then, when car was placed on lift, there was new fresh transmission fluid under the vehicle. The stick read full. The fluid was clean. It appears that the vehicle had not been leaking any fluid earlier.
I wanted to know if the "check" described above can be damaging or if it is designed to push fluid out at the weakest point??

transmission
The check the shop performed is not meant to push the fluid out of the transmission. There is a certain stall speed in the transmission torque converter that will only allow the engine to rev to a certain RPM with the transmission in gear and engine running. As for the fresh trans fluid leak, did the shop add any fluid or top off the fluid? Could be they might have spilled some fluid. A small amount of trans fluid will appear to be alot

gertz thanks and response
gertz asked, "did the shop add any fluid or top off the fluid? Could be they might have spilled some fluid."
No, the shop had not added any fluid. We were not even sure that it was transmission fluid. It could be power steering for that matter. I am comforted to hear that a "little" fluid can appear to be alot.
Thanks
