Cherokee fuel mileage down |
I have a 94 Jeep Cherokee that was getting 25 miles to a gallon but is now getting 18 miles to the gallon. I tuned it up and changed the o2 sensor but it didn't help. The car is a 6 cyclinder standard transmission and runs extremely well. My daughter had it for 3 years and I guess she never checked the mileage. I use fuel supplement every other tank of gas. Any suggestions appreciated.

| air filter? cat. converter? the ability to flow air both in and out is key to mileage and power. |

The air filter is new , and the converter has been changed twice, latest was last year. It has been tuned and has no codes in the computer. Haven't had the injectors checked but that may be next.

Cherokee Fuel Mileage |
| 1994 Cherokee six cylinder standard shift. Fuel mileage down from 26 to 17. I have completely tuned it up, changed converter, muffler, air filter, checked for codes with none. It fluctuates between 17 and 19 mpg. I haven't changed the timing chain and was wondering if it being stretched could cause this. The car has 175,000 miles on it. I have a Dakota with 200,000 miles and the fuel mileage hasn't changed on it. Any suggestions appreciated. I have always used fuel supplement to keep injectors cleaned. Fuel pump has good pressure. I have used slick "50" oil treatment from day one. |
