I'm having trouble with the axle and grease leak. Underneath is making an
awful noise, like metal beating metal. When driving, engaging the clutch
its not as bad. Otherwise it goes thru all the gears great. And is a
good running car. Lot of power. Its a 2.4L motor. Would appreciate
anyone's opinion. Maybe it is the transmission?

Maybe your CV boots are torn? Lift up the front of the car and check the

boots. If that's the case, since you're haearing metal grating against
metal, then you have to replace the CV joint as well as the boot.

check the CV joints, chances are the boots are blown out and the joints are

Thanks for the input. But could it also be a wrong axle? I had heard that
they made different axles for this model. It's just getting the right one.
It matches the one that is in the car's book manual. When the axle is put
in place it slips back out and it still runs but makes the awful noise of
metal of beating metal.
comeback?
