Pull the negative battery cable. Unless you have a fancy alarm
system install with a backup battery, that will do it every time.
And then park that car in with other cars (bumpers touching) so it
can't be driven pushed or towed away, put it in a locked garage, or
assign someone to keep a security watch over it till dawn. Seriously.
A favorite tactic of urban car thieves is to try breaking the glass
or jimmying the door lock for entry, if they trip the alarm they run
and hide. The car owner looks out the window, doesn't see anything
wrong, gets tired of waking up and resetting the car alarm, so they
turn it off. The burglar waits a half hour for them to go back to
sleep and they have free reign - steal the radio, or the whole car.

Or try to slip into the back seat under a dark blanket with a 12
gauge shotgun...my God, that'd be fun to slip the cold barrel
under his chin while he's trying to jimmy the radio outta the
dash...
