2000 Pathfinder SE Limited Edition. Keyless remote seems to work sometimes
and not sometimes. The only thing I have noticed it seems during rainy days
it is more likely not to work? Any ideas?

When was the last time the battery was changed?

Never did change the battery since 2000. But I have been using one and
there is a spare one I never used. Both of them exhibit the same problem.
So I think the problem is not the keyless remote but whatever it is
interacting with that is inside the vehicle?

Five years is a long time. The batteries are cheap and very available.
Change the battery in the fob.
