E36 Digital Dual Zone Climate Control Repairs |
|
|
Hello all,
Do you have problems with the digital dual zone climate control in your
E36? Well I did, so I did a lot of research, found that there's plenty of
other E36 owners who had this problem and fixed it. Now since I've been
doing a lot of computer repairs (real repairs with a soldering iron on SMT
components, not just replacement), I've decided to offer my services in
here.
So if these symptoms sound familiar to you, you can rip your climate
control unit out of your car and send it to me and I'll repair it
inexpensively.
Symptoms:
Climate control backlight turns off however if you shine the right light
at the display you can still see the numbers and indicators.
Buttons no longer do anything.
As soon as the display turns off the A/C compressor turns on and STAYS on
(extremely bad for the a/c system).
Does this intermittently. Sometimes works, sometimes not.
This is simply some faulty solder joints and can be repaired in less than
10 minutes, however a new CCU costs over $300. Hopefully this will catch
some poor soul's eye who has already spent enough money purchasing their
E36 M3 to pay an arm and a leg for repairs ;-)
I have references too if you need them. You can email me with the
username mducksub.... and this is at the domain name atari-source.com.
It's my attempt to spam proof my address.. Figure it out ;-)
Thanks,
Mark D.
