Hi,

After putting my car over 6000 RPM for a while,
the car puts out a lot of heat at the back + there's
always this "metallic" smell.
The heat, OK but the smell??

Anybody?

Tell me you're kidding?

Sustained 6000 RPM and you're surprised it's hot and has a metallic smell?

Why in heavens are you running a consistent 6000 RPM?

I'm surprised that a "metallic smell" is all that's happened. Imagine all
the expansion with that heat level...and you're burning off anything that's
on the surface of the engine and exhaust system.

If' you're running 6000 in top gear...then you best slow down. If you're
racing...and consistently running 6000 in the lower gears...expect the
unexpected. Something bad will happen one day.

And they say we Texans drive crazy!

Hi guys,
Anybody who knows about Porsche carrera 911??
I got one, year 1986, engine 2.3 cc.
My car`s heating system has 2 levels in the cabin, one for passenger, one
for driver. But I was surprised when after reading some books about this
model I noticed that only cabriolets and SC models (early models) had this 2
heating levels, not the carreras!!.
Any explanation??
I appreciate your inputs

A 2.3cc engine ??????????????? How about 3.2l?
Carrera followed the SC which ended production in '83, and runs to 89 when
it becomes the C2 and C4 (964 model designation)

Levers on the dash control direction and vent fan. Levers between the seats
control amount of heat to either side of cabin. Fan switch between the
levers adjust speed of fan to lower outlets.

Some cars were fitted with an automatic system which had a temperature
control in place of the lower fan switch, and no means (I think) of
selecting temperature from side to side. I think that coupes, cabs and
targas all came with either system. SC again, is a different, earlier
model, not concurrent with the Carrera 3.2.
