Anyone know if there is a model of a 1997 Corolla?
Anyone seen any models of the new Prius?

If so, please let me know where etc.

Regards,

AB

There are lots of places on line that offer Japanese model kits. I don't
know if you'll find the Corolla. I have found AE86's, Vans, Soarers (Lexus
SC400), etc. They are mostly offshore but will ship to the US.

If you are near Connecticut there is an excellent model shop in Enfield
and one in East Windsor that carry a lot of Jap models. Kay-Bee toys used
to also, but I don't think so any more. Goolge it and it should come up.

BTW, they are pretty expensive...~$20 and UP! They are also VERY detailed!

Hmm - thanks for the reply. I'm in the UK. I've "googled" a fair bit
but haven't come across either model yet.

The Corolla can be had in its Rally Car guise, but not as a standard
road car - unless anyone cares to identify one for me.

I thought someone from Japan might have seen a model Prius, or even
someone in the US as the Prius model seems to have quite a following in
Hollywood and elsewhere.

AB

I'd like to know, too. I'd like to get a TE31 Corolla and a TA12 Carina if
I could find such an animal.

I know there is one available of the Corolla, I've seen them on-line.

There are various models available for the Prius, but not of the build
it/paint it yourself variety but of the metal toy variety.

OK, I'm also looking for the '80 SR-5 liftback with the LONG hatch. I get
my terminology mixed up, was the long hatch the Hatchback or the Liftback?
I had two of those. Wrecked the first one on a WPA bridge over in
Mississippi.

The long-roofed hatch with the more vertical rear window was the Liftback.
The short-roofed hatch with the more steeply sloped window was the Coupe.

I had two Liftbacks: an '81 and an '82. Very practical bodystyle,
especially with the coil-sprung live rear axle and tubular shocks.
Intrusion into the cargo area was minimal, resulting in massive cargo-
carrying capability for its size.

TE7x series (from memory):

TE70 = 2-door sedan
TE71 = 2 door Coupe (steep hatch)
TE72 = 2-door Liftback (vertical hatch)
TE73 = 4-door wagon
TE74 = 4-door sedan
TE75 = 2-door Hardtop (notchback)

North America never got the KE7x.

I believe it was called a hatchback or coupe. I think the short hatch was
called the liftback. I do remember the sticker saying coupe, though.

I've been looking for quite a while, haven't found one. I have however
found an ae86 Trueno (um...Hachiroku!) and an 87 Supra. I also found a
Soarer 2800, early 80's. I actually could have bought that one back in the
day when I worked for Kay-Bee for about $1.99!!!

One of the liftback (?) (are you sure you got your models right?) versions
has been sitting in the next town for about 5 years, just patiently
sitting in someone's back yard waiting for me to go get it! (yeah, right!
Like I don't have enough 'projects' now!!!)

That's odd, both my TE7's were TE72's, but they had the LONG hatch that
nearly opened over the head of the rear passengers and the small,
rectangular window in front of the rear pillar followed by the LONG
triangular window behind. The TE71's then must have had the trapezoidal
window behind the front door and the trapezoidal window behind the pillar.

My brother's 81 was also a TE72, by then they were using the 17 digit VIN,
but the TE72 number was stamped on the firewall. Mom had an '82, hers was a
TE75 notchback.

Why the jump between the 79 K/T3x and the 80 TE7x? Where there 4x,5x, and
6x model Corollas? I know the 8x and 9x models were manufactured at 1NX as
well as JT2 also marked as Chevy Novas and Geo Prisms. My AE102 is a 1NX,
as is my sister's 95, but my mom's 94 is a JT2 - plant 0.

Well, I never carried many passengers, so the TE72's were good for me, I
could lay a lot of cargo in the back with the rear seats folded down.

To each his own.
