I OWN A 96 FORD CONTOUR (GL) 2.0L ENGINE. THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT CHANGE
GEARS. WE'VE CHANGED THE SPEED SENSOR ON THE TRANSMISSION, AND ALSO HAVE
CHANGED THE FLUID AND FILTER. WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM?

1) You are using all CAPS. This is considered shouting and is rude.

2) I think you need to go to a transmission specialist and have them look at
it.

$2000 later at a transmission place we found out a chip that tells the gears to shift had a short in it. It supposedly wouldn't produce a code on the reader because it was a sporadic problem.

The symptoms for my 95 Contour were that it would feel like it was thrown into neutral every now and then.

With all my Contour problems it's always been the obvious...such as the alternator & an electrical component, a relay fuse.

the AC was the fan froze up & the AC switch had a short.

Good luck. Find someone very honest to track that chip down.
