What are the differences between the sport seat and the regular seat,
beside the size of the side bolsters? What models and years have
driver's seat that would interchange with a 1986 944? Thanks in
advance!

Stefan,
There's no difference in how the sport seat mounts. The list of cars is
long as Porsche used the same mounting system in many cars. Look for any
seat from a 924, 944, 968, 928 or 911s from about 80 to 92.

The size of the bolsters is most of it, but the front of (some)
sport seats is frameless at the top - the center cushion isn't
connected to the seat bolsters. The seats on the 911 and 944 are
interchangeable up until the 993, iirc, and those can be fitted if you
modify the rails.

Just buy on Ebay set of 993 8way, bolt on for 944,968 .
You won't be sorry. Same cost used as 944T sport 80's.
Then trade up to 993 sports, which are around $2k today.
