Of course, don't forget Clinton, who in 1992, won with only 43% of the
popular vote, and most likely would NOT have won had Ross Perot not
taken 19% of the vote, leaving Bush with 37%.
Understood that not all of Perot's votes would have gone to Bush, but
his positions were far closer to the positions of the Republican party
than the Democrat party. Ignoring Perot, Clinton was 6% over Bush,
but he was actually 13% BELOW the 56% of Americans who voted against
him.
Even in 1996, Clinton only took 49%. Dole took 41%, and Perot took
8%. Without Perot, it could have been as close as 2000.
Carter only beat Ford by 2%... and Ford was arguably one of the worst
Presidents in recent history... perhaps second only to Carter himself.
Carter should have been able to do MUCH better against Ford.
Nixon only beat Humphrey by 1%... and again, we had an independent...
George Wallace, grabbing 13%.
Kennedy only beat Nixon by 0.2%. That's right... POINT TWO percent.
Literally 120,000 votes difference among 69 million voters.
No... Nixon's first election, Kennedy, and Bush's first election
"barely squeaked into office". A 2% victory is a solid win.
Oh... and in case you haven't looked, it's 3%, not 2%.

I don't have to accept the "will of the people", when the people you're
mentioning are barely over 1/2 of the people....... You're talking about the
will of a 2% majority.
I did not dispute the results of the election, I was disputing BS presented
here as facts.

election. Electoral vote, popular vote, even Kerry (the guy who more

I notice how these same people get all preachy about how this isn't
"mob rule" to determine who is President, yet pull out mob rule
logic when they defend their candidate.
The trust is, the combined popular vote is utterly worthless

Irrelevant! And he wont with more votes than anyone in history. When was
the last democrat elected with more than 50% of the votes? And
apparently, more people voted for him. I'd say more so even voted
agaisnt Kerry, as he got less popular votes. |
