Circuit breaker I think.. |
|
|
My 2001 toyota camry blew something while I was using one of those
portable air compressors in the cigar lighter. Now the lighter doesn't
work and the clock is out. My manual says some circuit breakers (that is
what it sounded like when it went out) have to be manually reset.
Anyone know where it is located?
I checked all of the under the hood fuses but none are blown. Usually
the fuse in the nose of those air pumps will go before anything else,
but it didn't and it was nice and hot.
TIA

I don't know your year, but typically it's a fuse, not a circuit
breaker. And typically it's on the cabin side of the fire wall, not
in the engine compartment. The owner's manual may give the location.
You're lucky it just affected the clock. On the 2000 Mazda MPV, it
disables the brake pedal - transmission interlock, so you can't put
the car in drive. |

Or a fusible link. Toyota is fond of those.

The year was in the original post 2001. Something clicked. I'm not sure
a fuseable link would click? It's a J vin number.
All my fuses seem to be under the hood. But I am going to drop the kick
panel tomorrow. There are none visiable on the driver side under the
dash which is the first place I looked having owned alot of American
cars in the past. This car has given me no problems so I can't
complain.
My back up lighter socket is messed up allready or I could have just
worn a watch.
Funny thing, the light around the lighter works.

The Camry fuses are behind the coin storage bin, which is the little 3" x 3"
door that's on the dash to the left of the steering wheel. Open it, then
pull the door firmly upward to remove it from the dash. You'll see the
fuses in the opening where the coin bin was. An explanation of what each
fuse controls is on a label on the back of the coin bin door.
