i changed all of my shock absorber earlier this year. Brand new monroe
sensa-trac shock absorbers. Recently, heard some strange noise while going
through the road hump. Checked all the shock absorbers and found the right
hand side shock absorber had some oil-like stain. What could it be?? Need
some conformation before taking it to the mechanic. Toyota Corolla 1994
AE101

Sounds like one of the seals blew out. Did you hit a curb or a pothole
particularly hard? Could just have been bad.

Monroe requires you to have proof of purchase for any kind of warranty, so
if you have the slip, or even the top of the box showing the model number,
you can probably have it replaced, or at least pro-rated. Contact the
vendor where you bought the shocks, or the service person who replaced it.

With a receipt they will replace it for free (ok ya have to pay to have it
physically replaced). If ya have over say 10k miles on them - exchange both
on the same axel. I had all 4 replaced for free on a '90 4 Rnr after nearly
5 years with some off road use too. Lifetime warranty is to original
purchaser with proof of purchase.

since i don't have the purchase slip, is it possible if I just change one
shock absorber or must I change both on the same axle. Milleage is about
6000km since I changed the shock absorber.

6,000 miles isn't too long a time. If you replace one shock alone, I'd be
willing to wager there would be no noticable difference in ride quality
between the two sides.
