"Service Engine Soon" 2002 330xi |
|
|
This light came on 200 miles ago. I checked
the gas cap and it was a bit loose. Filled
the gas, made sure the cap was tight. Light
has stayed on for another 150 miles.
Runs smoothly, usual gas mileage, no overheating...
Service shop says the light may not reset on its
own for 1000 miles.
Should I take it in?

That is about the only way to find out what the problem really is. That |
light comes on for a wide variety of reasons, and only one of which is a
loose gas cap.

Try disconnecting the battery for a few moments.

Happened to my '99 328i - took about 250 miles (nearly 2 weeks) to go off. |
Has remained off ever since.
