Olds Bravada question??? |
|
|
Hi,
I own a 2002 Olds Bravada SUV with SmartTrack. But my question is about the
air-leveling suspension. I live in a very cold climate and I have to keep
taking the car for maintenance (under warranty) as the car raises up and
then won't level back down. So the rear of the car always looks like it is
up in the air.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? The last time I took it in they
installed a new compressor as they said the air wasn't being let out of the
shocks. It worked for about 3-4 weeks and now it's back up in the air again.
Any opinions, comments, solutions (maybe sell the beast)?
Thanks!

A common problem with Hummers and their CTIS (tire inflation system)
is that moisture, which is present in virtually all compressed air,
will freeze in the lines and cause strange things to happen. It may be
this is your problem.

Thanks Peter. I'll keep an eye on it and if it doesn't get back to normal
I'll take it to the dealer. BTW, would there be one compressor or would
there be one for each side? I notice the passenger rear side is lifted more
than the driver rear side. Thanks.

One compressor, plumbing to allow front and rear to be managed
seperately. There is no right/left adjustment however. Air pressure
can be modified on the roll (I often will adjust my air pressure when
on the highway.)
If one side was lower than the other, then spring wear is the
problem--a problem with Hummers as they often weigh 8000 lb (or more,
mine weighs in at 8800) at the curb. A fully loaded Hummer can be over
10K... <g>
Uh, thats a 'rea' Hummer, the H1, not the substitute one, the H2...
