1980 caprice classic-need help |

Anyone have any suggestions?-
My son has a 1980 Caprice Classic 8 cyclinder-350 engine. Just had replace
spark plugs-wire-cap and now he cannot get any heat when he turns on the
heater- the blower does come on. Husband put a new thermostat on it and
checked all the hoses and lines to make sure there were no leaks. Besides
the heatercore being out, anymore suggestions on what it could be and how
to check first without spending money and trying to replace it since it's
a big unit connected to the air-conditioner unit to. I just hate to put to
much more money into since it'll be sold in a month or so anyway-but it
sure is cold outside!

I don't understand.
No 'heat' or no 'fan'?

there is a little valve in the heater lines somewhere. he most likely
knocked the cable off it changing the plugs. look on the passenger side of
the motor

Agree with tom. I had one of these cars, and the heat control is vacuum
operated. It's about 6" from the firewall and I believe it's on the top
heater hose. Small black line going to it. It's about 1 3/4" in diameter
and has a linkage underneath that moves a valve inline with the heater
hose. Either the vacuum line came off or the valve is stuck. It can be
wired open if the vacuum diaphragm is shot..
