Often people have posted that we will beat the Iraqi insurgents just like we
cleaned up Germany after WWII.

Some differences:

1. The German army was beaten badly. In Iraq we dispersed the army into
the civilian population. A major error admitted by some members of the Bush
administration.

2. The German's were fighting on behalf of a leadership that was conquered
and/or dead. Many of the insurgents are fighting for religious extremism.

3. Weapons are better now on both sides. Could we have ever cleaned up
Germany if insurgents were as well equipped as Iraqi insurgents?

4. The US was only occupying a small part of Germany. I don't know the
relative troop numbers, land mass or population comparisons with Iraq. But
it is something to consider.

Better do some research before you post. The Wolverines were
trained by Hitler to fight on and kill local government officials
that cooperated if Germany was overrun. They fought tooth and
nail until 1948 when the German people began to inform on who
they were to the Allies. It was the German peoples desire for
freedom, and safety to go to work in the new manufacturing plants
being build there, under the Marshal plan, that ended the
fighting and murders of civilians. It was only in the American
and English Zones of Germany and Berlin that had problems for
that long. To end it the Russians simply bombed any town into
oblivion that harbored terrorist. The French did not bomb the
town, they simply shot all the males between 18 and 45. Should
we do what the Russian and the French did?

loose in the occupied area's and see what happens.. <muahahhahaha>

Hmm. Wonder what they would have called those V1 and V2 rockets and
why they had such a thriving nuclear weapons program in place. Then
again there were those chemical weapons that they used in WWI and
WWII... but nah, they didn't have any WMD's... <rofl> Then again there
were those submarines that were happily sinking ships including a few
US flagged which drew us into the fray...

And then US were more than happy to let German military scientists work for
them developing these weapons further.

By the way, Bush's buddy in Russia has just announced a brand new nuclear

weapon that will be ready in a few years. Unlike any other nuclear weapon.
Can't wait to see it.

As a reminder, starting with Bush's second term, he won't be able to blame
Clinton any more for his own screw ups.

Maybe you're thinking of the security breaches and nuclear secrets stolen
from Lawrence Livermore and Los Alamos by the Chinese during the Nixon, Carter, Reagan and Bush
years and uncovered during the Clinton administration.
