Timing belt replacement on Audi 80 1.9TDi |
|
|
I have just had the timing belt and tensioner replaced on my 1994 Audi
80 1.9 Tdi, with 214000 miles. Following the replacement, the engine
does not fire up when cold. Specially in the mornings. The glow plug
light goes out after a time delay. When it fires up, after a few
minutes, it starts with a puff of smoke.
It is likely that the timing belt is the cause of the problem or just a
coincide. There appears to be no loss of power.
Any suggestions appreciated.

I had the same experience. After consulting another garage it appeared that |
the garage that changed the timing belt should have checked the timing of
the injection pump with a computer diagnostic system. The timing of the fuel
injection was way out of spec. After adjusting the timing of the fuel
injection the car started fine.
