DME & Knock Sensors |

Well, we're back to that time of the year when they start messing with
the gasoline blends here in N. CA again. Have had to start my annual
rotation among different brands to see who has the decent gas this
time. Chevron premium has been very good the past several months, but
now seems to have deteriorated - trying Union 76 currently, but it's not
that great either. Mobil was "fantastic" on my trip through S. CA - NV
two weeks ago, but it is not widely available in my area.
Couple of questions...
1. Anyone else notice this effect - change in engine NVH immediately
after fill-up?
2. Main question - seems to take my DME awhile to adjust the timing for
the "junk" stuff. Specifically, DME doesn't seem to adjust timing until
it gets to look at how things are above 4000 rpm or so on the tach. Also
doesn't seem to "completely adjust" to the new gas until the next time
the engine is shut off and restarted.
Anybody else notice these effects? Those of you who live east of
California probably don't notice a thing - you lucky souls.
