Re: 944 Turbo or 928 |
|
|
Mike, you hit the nail on the head. The 928 was introduced to the market as
Porsche's answer to Camaros and Trans Ams at the time. I've sold Porsches
for the local dealer here in NC, so I've driven them all. I also own an '89
944. 928: V8 monster with much more weight. 944: Very quick and nimble
fun car. Easier to see out of too.

I imagine that the 944 is the better "track car" and the 928 the better
muscle-car (competing with Mustangs and Camaros)... with Porsche
refinement,
of course.

That address isnt big enough for two separate companies, trust me I
have been there a few times harrassing them into a full refund earlier
in the year!!
Anyone listening, dont part with your hard earned money to these guys
as in my experience they will screw you over. (you can read my
experiences if you trawl back to earlier on this year).
Take a step back and a deep breath if you are suckered into their web
site prices. Just think about how much money your car is worth, then
the price of a train ticket to Nottingham pails into in-significance
if you are thinking of buying. Once you visit their offices you will
be glad of my advice and richer to boot!

84 NA 944
86000 Miles
Mint (AND I MEAN M.I.N.T.) condition!!!!
All service records with receipts
Not a scratch, dent, or dead bug on it. Anywhere!
Price.....$5000
So Doug, in all your infinite wisdom, what do you say? Keep searching

the point of my post was, that there is a whole bunch of stuff attached
to the 951 that cannot be mounted on a "standard" 944. suspension etc.
in addition to the various bits and pieces that are necessary to replace
on the engine itself, including the turbo, external oil cooler,
manifold, maf, computer ( both the klr and the dme) cooling syste, total
exhaust, clutch, transmission (w/associated oil cooler) ... the amount
of money you would need to spend do the "conversion" exceeds the cost of
a "real" turbo....
$5,000 for a 84 , you have got to be joking !!!!! the going rate for a
85.5 or later is less than that.. regardless of the 84 being mint it is
still an 84, with all of the drawbacks of the pre 85.5

Mud, the truth is that you'd be better off buying a high-mile turbo |
for that much than a mint early NA. I have a book on 944s by Brian
Long and it has two pictures in it I'd love to have as posters. One is
of a completely disassembled early 944 laid out in a white room, the
other is a similar picture showing all the different parts in the 944
Turbo, compared to the NA. You won't come close to matching what the
engineers in Weissach thought up for any sensible amount of money.
There's also the fact that I'm a fan of early 944s. I don't think
five grand for a mint one is insane - hell, if it's Guards Red with a
black interior, I'd like the contact info, though of course I'd prefer
a mint '83. :) But to take a mint car and butcher it trying to make it
something it isn't is distasteful to me. Leave that car for someone
that would appreciate it, and just wait a bit longer and get a 951.
Heck, it's heading for winter now, you've got until April or May to
save up.

Hi Fred,
I bought my Boxster a half year ago here in Germany and I must say:
I have fallen in love for the second time. Once into my girlfriend,
second time in the Boxster. A dream car!
In the future I`ll never drive other cars then porsche.
My decision: BUY IT! :-)

I have an opportunity to buy an immaculate (7,000 miles) '02 Boxster 2.7

power
and delivery. I plan to drive it on w/e (not a commuter car and no
racing)
and was wondering if it has adequate power / flexible power band or do
you
need to wind it up to get any decent power. All indications are it was
very
well taken care of with all docs / service and still under full factory
warranty til May '06; the car was not stored but was used on average of
3K /
year. Any heads up on weak points, or things to look for. Believe I can
get
it for somewhere in the $33-35K range.
Any help is appreciated.
P.S. My previous Auto experience include BMW 5 series, SAAB 900, (Audi
A6Q
and VW Passat Wagon Current) all stick except the Audi.
The '02 Boxster got variable cam phasing. This increased low end torque
like crazy. I think you will be quite please with the cars performance. |

45k for a used S sounds about right, give or take. You should also
ask if all of the recall fixes have been performed on his '04, or
if they will be before you get it. To get a more accurate answer

in addition, i would check out the availability of a left over brand new
'04 touareg...there is still a pretty long list of the V-8's in dealers'
inventory and the ones that were [are] leftover were generally the most
fully loaded ones because they were the most expensive......or for an even

the many bucks saved, you could upgrade the touareg with some of the
