My girls 98 4wd Pathfinder with 106k has a nasty growl to it when the clutch
pedal is depressed, worse when its cold.
At work the other day, I heard a car start, then heard the exact same growl
come from an Xterra, so I'm thinking this could be a problem some folks on
this group may have encountered. Im thinking throw out bearing, but would
love to hear from others that may have encountered this symptom.

Throw-out bearing. Trans has to come out to replace it.

Agree, throwout bearing. Since the trans has to come out, think about
replacing the clutch and
pressure plate.
