Bad news Good News Bad news.

Bad news. Driving home last night, my Cressida stopped moving in a
forward direction and I heard the tell-tale sound of a busted drive
shaft.

Good news. Drive shaft not busted.

Bad news. Side shaft busted? 60 Bucks for a tow. Feh.

Out comes the Repair Manual. Man, this could be bad. Lift the car.
Look underneath. Driver's side shaft is completely out of the socket
but...

Good news: The socket is just fine.

Bad news: One of the two rear bushings is gone.

Good news: I had already bought new rear differential mounting
cussions for both sides of the rear and the two that go in the front.
I just didn't buy a 12MM allen wrench to take it apart.

Bad news: It'll be easy to remove the pig. Easy to replace it too.
But these bushings appear pressed in. I don't have a T&M book, but
from the looks of it, I'm expected to remove the differential mounting
cushions with a tool (SST# 09570-22010) Toyota says they never made.

The dealer says they take the entire rear assembly off at the mounts
to the body and stick it in a press. WTF?????
