A month has past and let me do something |

Denice,
Since you posted this a month ago, I was waiting for someone to share more information about your topic.
Until I could not wait and started to look up information. There are actually a lot of ways. I got one from ideatodo.com with many suggestions.
Other sites suggested pieces of info like spoiler to the front to reduce drag and rear spoiler also. Some said easy on the gas pedals. Some said good tires. |

how to increase gas mileage |

Depending on the length of the mileage test (and assuming it's not against the rules), disconnect the alternator to reduce the load on the engine. If that is against the rules, replace the tail/brake/turn lights with LED's. Every watt of power you reduce will save something off the fuel used.
Depending on the belt routing, you may be able to bypass the power steering pump and/or other unneeded accessories. Just make sure the water pump is driven.

Also

While each vehicle reaches its optimal fuel economy at a different speed (or range of speeds), gas mileage usually decreases rapidly at speeds above 60 mph.
You can assume that each 5 mph you drive over 60 mph is like paying an additional $0.24 per gallon for gas.
Observing the speed limit is also safer. |
