My name is David Ferguson, I am 33, a virgo, a car lover, a father, a sinner and a saint.... I have been around Cars all my life, I can remember helping my dad repair car after car growing up. I can clearly recall being five and being yelled at because I couldnt find a 9/16 wrench for my dad, yes, i too was a tool boy. I put in my time though and became a a.s.e. cert tech, I have given up on the aspireation of owning my own shop, You see my father died in the beggining of the summer, he did all the financing for the shop I owned, when he passed away, I didnt see a point in doing it anymore, so I went and got a job working for G.M. That was a decient job, but I wasn't happy about the "union" rules, or the fact of mandatory overtime, I have two beautiful children, that i only get to see, the first weekend of the month(s), at christmas, spring break, and those few short months in the summer. So what I did was go and get a night shift job.

There are people who get new cars every couple years, I do the same, but I have had my 1992 Chevrolet Beretta GT, since it was brand new. It had two miles on it when I drove it off McGuires Chevrolet (Clare Michigan) parking lot in June of 92, you see, i was the first male to graduate in my family....ever... My dad got the entire family together to get me a new car, after all was said and done, they had gathered up 19,000.00 well short of the Camaro, I wanted but enough to get my Beretta, so my love for this "little" Camaro, is pretty big...

Many people ask me thousands of car questions, i dont have the answer to every one of them, but what i dont know, I will find the answer to. What is really funny, is I have actually had Ford "factory" trained techs ask me whats wrong with a car, my first thought was its this....or that.... and been right 99% of the time, but there was this one time.......

It was about ten years ago, when a customer of ours, came in, and said his daughters car would start some times and then not at others.... This was the first time we ever looked at this car...I had been working on cars for 5-7 years at this point so I wasn't a newbie and I wasn't as knowledgable as I am now, anywho the car was a 1979 Ford Fairmont...255.. auto... Heres what it would do... You could drive this car 1,000 miles without a problem and then all the sudden...dead... start it right back up... another 234 miles... dead again... then it wouldnt start at all....and then in five minutes...start again...another 3,500 miles dead....not start... next day start...198 miles....dead again.. you see my point right?... it did it when it wanted to..

Anyway, everytime I looked at the fuel system or the electrical system, it checked out.. This car was starting to "invade" my dreams, maybe even haunt them. I had this guys car for like two weeks, and it was all i drove in those two weeks, but since he was a customer of ours for years, he knew we would find it... I decided to visit a friend in Detroit one weekend, so guess what i drove?... The mystry machine "Fairmont".. It drove perfect all the way there and on the way home, that m@therFactor, did it to me on I-75 at two o'clock in the morning, ask me how upset I was?, I was taking this girl home for the week and couldn't even get there....

So as angry as I was at the time, I decided to open the hood, told the girl to crank it, she did, guess what I saw, nothing wrong, told her to crank it again, she did for about five seconds, and then there it was right in front of my face, a small spark
right on the bottle coil, the second I saw the spark the car started, and ran like a champ, on the way home it did it three more times, before i finally got my pocket knife, stripped the wire and coiled it around the post on the coil, ran all the way home after that...

The next day I called Carquest, and ordered a new "nutted" coil and wired it into the system, called the guy and said, shes good to go its gonna be $??.??, Come and get her, When He got there he satarted asking me about a guarentee, I was like well if any work we did fails, you know its free "you have been coming here for years", then he procieded to tell me that FORD's in Midland, just charged her 600.00 for a new fuel pump and a "carb" "tune" wink wink yea right.... and the car did the same thing later that day, he was super pissed when he found out that 1. they didnt fix the problem.. 2. they over charged her... 3. we had fixed the ACTUAL problem under $100.00...

So..... see even I know I dont know everything, but I will help anyone I can...
