The car 1994 lincoln Mark VIII
The symptoms cold start approx 20 seconds the check engine light will flash 4 times and the engine will rev up then sometimes cut out in park if I try to put it in drive it usually dies unless i gun it. other symptoms when I first pull off at low throttle the engine has a slight bog. at WOT after 3500 RPM it pops/missfires. The car idles fine and pulls good still it is strong off the start to 3500 then its not all there

I have a 1994 lincoln mark 8 with a newer tranny and the DOHC 4.6. All I have done is put on a Kand N cone filter on the stock MAF and stock cats and duel straight pipe. I recently sawpped out a blown up engine wit one from the same year and make as mine. everything was exactly the same. I swapped out all the sensors except the EGRvalve idle motor, and the sensor that monitors the egr valve and the knock sensor. everything else was swapped from the original motor. I also had to use the fuel injectors and fuel rail off the original engine. I have a ford code reader and it pulls no codes. 111/10/111 pass this is the key on engine on and off tests. I also did a cylineder/injector bank test wich came up 90 pass I did a fuel pressure test running 38 PSI hose off regulator 40psi. checked the plugs and they look good clean and dry, they three of them had some grey spots on the white porcelin. on the 234 cylinders left rear, I had to swap the Throttle body off the blown engine. I did not use a new gasket (I know That was stupid, but there was not any other option at the time)no bubbles in the radiator fluid no loss of fluid. I did drop the fuel tank by accident when I was working on getting the drive shaft out it fell about 2 foot and was held up by its hoses. I did not see any damage at the time. but due to time restrains at the shop I was using I had to slap it back up and hope I did not kill the fuel pump. I checked the IMRC's and they seem to open and close fairly quickly and easily.

The junk yard told me the comprecion test was good across the cylinders. I have not done one myself but I will be.

New parts, plugs, wires, coils used good,

Ok hooked egr valve up directly to intake vacume and started it cold light still flashed. I reconnected the egr circuit then created a a vacume leak by pulling the pvc hose off. the car idled like crap and the light still flashed. So far the only thing that has killed the flashing light was to unplug the O2 sensor on the passenger side. That causes a steady CE light when the car goes into open loop mode. would a vacume leak from a TB or intake cause this?? Bad CPU ? no codes. idles about 700 when warm cold idles 800 to 1000. knock sensor?
