We have documented with Kia Motors America Inc. that our 2005 Sorento has an intermittent shifting defect in the manual transmission.

We are not an isolated case but because Kia has not duplicated the problem they will not help us or anyone else who has documented this exact problem.

Here is what happens:

Intermittently, suddenly while we are driving our vehicle it will not shift gears (manual tranny) and will not move. After repeatedly trying to get it to shift by going through all the gears it will finally shift again.

This is a highly dangerous situation and has happened 9 times to date.

We would appreciate any feedback if you are experiencing this problem.

You need to take this up with you local attorney generals office. This is a safety problem and they should know about it. You'll be surprised what they can do.
