i have a 1997 ford e 150 van 4.2 v6 engine, well the van has 120 thousand miles and have had no problems van runs great but on monday i went out to go to work and turned my key and click click ,i had power but not enough to turn the engine,so i took the battery to get tested and they said it was low they charged it and gave it back i reinstalled it and same thing,so then i replaced the starter, and same thing click click then i had a mobile mechanic come over today ,he found a secondary cylanoid for the starter and determined it was bad,and put a meter on the bataery after he changed the part and the voltage dropped when i turned the key,so he said to also get a battery,so here i am 500 dollars in repairs now i got a new battery and same thing ,........what else can it be???please help!!!!!!

Time to start checking |

| You might try checking the battery cables. Loose or dirty cables at either end could be your problem. If it was running the last time you shut it off I doubt if the engine is locked up. |

Keep checking |

| Sounds as though your getting power to the ign. switch. Really doubt if it's a fuse. I would really check the starter and the starter solenoid. Just because there new does'nt mean there ok. Most auto parts stores can check your starter, but you'll have to remove it and take it in. It also could be a bad spot on the flywheel. |

Put a swing bar and socket on the nut on the harmonic balancer. (end of crankshaft). Try to turn the engine this way. If it moves, then try the starter again.
Push in the clutch pedal when you try to start the engine. Tranny may be locked in gear. Clutch may not be disengaging. |
