Help! I have 1981 4X4 2.8 Lt Diesel |
|
|
I recently "creatively" invested in an 1981 Patrol 2.8 Lt diesel, very
happy about the diesel...but the rest of the monster is falling apart
slowly. I have a continuous clutch/gearbox problem. 6 Months ago I
replaced the flywheel which was severely chipped. Now, shifting the
gears is very difficult, I was told that it had to do with the
"cylinder", but I have already replaced the "master cylinder" is there
another one??? - may also be that I am in Egypt and don't fully
understand arabic...any advice where I should look for help, please.

I am not familiar w/ this particular truck, but many Datsun's of that period
had a hydraulically-operated clutch. It had its own master/slave cylinders
similar to your brake sys. The fix would require the rebuild of the sys. in
a similar fashion to the brakes (unless it is merely a low fluid level-but
then, why?). If the clutch was not fully engaging the flywheel, the tranny
would still be in contact w/ the engine, causing the difficulty with the
shifting. However, w/ such an old truck, many other things could be wrong.
