Need exhaust for 1981 Corolla wagon |
|
|
I need the exhaust system for a 1981 Corolla station wagon from, but not
including, the catalytic converter back. This is the pipe leading from
the onverter to the muffler, the muffler, and the exhaust pipe. My
mechanic here can't find any parts (well, maybe the gaskets) and I have
tried various search permutations on the web. There's some parts out
there but they all seem to not be for the wagon. If you know of any
sources please let me know!
Thanks,
Brian

Have you tried a Toyota dealer? I got a whole cat-back system, 1 piece,
for a 1983 Tercel wagon for $119.
Either that or try a Meineke or Midas that can bend the pipe custom. This
will cost $150-200. |

Toyota dealers, at least the 4 that I called, don't even have part numbers in
their computer databases for cars as old as mine! It's a pity there isn't
this long-term customer support since Toyotas do have the reputation of
lasting a long time. Being cynical I guess I shouldn't be surprised. This
just forces you to go out and buy a new car since at this stage being unable
to get a relatively minor but critical irreplaceable part (like a window)
could essentially total the car. Having a station wagon makes it worse since
these are rarer and a recent need for a bumper revealed that most junkyard
'81 cars are in the crusher.

OK, will do, thanks!

I would suspect that you do not need to find a 1981 bumper. You may find a 1982 or later
bumper will also fit. The doors/windows/power locks on the 240 series
Volvo interchange from the 1970s to the 1990s 240 series. |
