1966 Star Chief, springs and more questions |

Hi everyone,
It's been a while since I've had time to check the newsgoup. Work is always
a pain...it pays for my hobby...but gets in the way of it too....
Anyway, I've spent a couple of weekends now playing...er...working on the
Pontaic and have a few questions:
First, I'd like to lift the suspension about 4" or so, to make room for a
larger wheel/tire combination. I've found a few things online, but mostly
lowering springs or air rides. I haven't put too much effort into the air
ride yet, but maybe I will. Anyone have any suggestions or comments?
Second, I must have lost the link to my transmission. It appears not to be
getting out of park now. Anyone know where the link could be broken or
pulled loose? I already checked at the transmission and followed as far as
I could up to the firewall and it looks ok. I strongly suspect the problem
is nearer to the column.
In other news, I just replaced the master cylinder hoping that is the where
the brake leak is. I have no fluid anywhere else (brake cylinders are all
clean and no fluid anywhere down the lines). I haven't had time yet to
bleed the system, so I won't really know much until that's done. I need to
rebuild the carb soon. I may just replace it with a new one I have on the
shelf and be done with it.
Thanks in advance!
Scott
