Need to replace the lower control arms on my E34. The arms that are in
there now are the alloy ones (aluminum) and that is what is specified in
the BMW ETK. But when I look for parts many different places online it
also specifies that the steel arms apply to this car. Since the
cheap[est I can find the alloy arms is $155 ea and I can get the steel
ones for 1/3rd of that, can anyone think of a reason that I should not
save $200 by using the steel ones?

Yes, I realize that the unsprung weight will increase by a pound or so
per axle and that may slightly alter the suspension tuning. But I am
willing to take that risk. I mean, heck... people go to bigger and
heavier wheels all the time and never seem to have any big problems.

Thanks in advance for any comments.

go to http://www.bimmer.info/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=10
best site for e34...
I use regular ones... cheaper and since they need frequent changing, go with
the cheapies... BUT, use lemforder, not copies!!!!!
bimmer.info is the best, you will find tons of guys that use both kinds, so
you'll get good info on both!

Unsprung weight is BAD. Very, very *BAD*.

Saving even half a pound per corner is worth $200 dollars.
