95 Avalon Struts |
|
|
After 85000 miles I feel the need to replace the OEM struts. Am I better
off using Toyota struts or other brands. I will keep the car for another
50-60,000 miles.

If you are happy with the soft ride (probably why you bought the Avalon)
stick with the OEM shocks - they carry a lifetime warranty. IMHO they are
normally gone at 50-60k.

No. Only replacements carry the lifetime warranty, but if the dealer
installs them, both labor and materials are included. |

Original ones on the vehicle are the normal warranty - 36 months. If you get
a TRD version yota PU that comes with normally lifetime warranteed by manf
Bilstein shocks --- they too only have the 36 month warranty.

If you have Genuine Toyota struts installed at a Toyota dealer, you wil get |
a lifetime parts and labor warranty, honored by anyToyota dealer. The OEM
struts are good quality and since they are the same as the origianl, you
know what they will ride like.
Aftermarket struts come in varying quality, longevity, ride characteristics,
and warranties. Check the warranties out carefully to see if they are
pro-rated or if only parts are covered, where you can have warranty work
done, etc.

In addition, watch out for those that say "lifetime warranty" on the
aftermarket parts. If you read the fine line, it will state that the
warranty is only on the part. You will have to pay for the labor to
install new ones, which cost more than the struts themselves. |
