Toyota Echo - Grab Bars / Parts List |
|
|
My new 2005 Toyota Echo 5 door does not have grab handles installed in
the back seat area. This prevents me from having a place to hang my
suit bag from.
I notice that the "knock-outs" are there, but some moderate tugging
and prying didn't make them pop out and I'm reluctant to force the
issue.
Are handles, or the old style hooks available from the dealer or
aftermarket? I also had a look on the Toyota web site and can't find
a list for most of the replacement parts. Are there other sources?
I'm in Toronto, Ontario (much of the time).
Thanks

The plugs are easier to remove if you have a trim removal tool, which looks
like a bent flat-bladed screwdriver, with the blade being about 1-1/2" wide
with a semi-circular notch in the middle. A putty knife will also work to
pop out the plug.
As for a hanger or grab bar, if one is not shown on the part list, go to a
Toyota dealer and find another car like a Corolla with a coat hook in the
back and then order that part in a color that kind of matches the interior
of your car. You will need a 10mm bolt to attach the hook.

Dandy - Thanks. I've always wanted one of those tools - I'll have to
get one. It's too bad that the parts list isn't available on the web
somewhere though. It would make life easier.

Mine is from Snap-On. If you see a Snap-On (or Cornwall, MAC, MATCO) truck |
at a service facility, I'm sure the guy would be happy to sell one to you.
If you only have occasional use and don't want to pay $20 + for a tool that
you may never use again, try your local auto parts store for a less
expensive version.
