WAY OT: HYSTERICAL! |
|
|
Some British children's show from the 70s.
The subtext of what they're saying and doing is a scream!
Do *not* watch this while eating or drinking - not because it's gross, but
because you'll spew!

Gotta go. Getting late, and we were blowing all night last night. Well,
gotta get my twangers and play with my balls. Nat, if you don't have any
balls to play with, you can ask me to... ;)
Oh, yeah, not a lot of innuendo in that one at all, eh? |

This episode was never actually broadcast. It was recorded as an in-joke but
never aired, I think there'd have been complaints!!! |

Oh, but if this was only a gag reel, I wish there was another
archive available...
If you put together all the stuff that Soupy Sales managed to get on
the air over the years, ostensibly as a "Children's Program", in one
place, the network people would be horrified they didn't stop it as it
was happening. There were rumors of really risque stuff he was
alleged to have said, but he slipped enough by the censors as it was.
http://www.snopes.com/radiotv/tv/soupy2.htm
Among many other things, 0n 1/1/1965 he ad-libbed "Quietly now: Go
get Daddy's wallet, take out all those green pieces of paper with
pictures of Presidents on them, put them in an envelope, and write on
it 'To Soupy Sales, WNEW New York'..."
| Quote: | http://www.snopes.com/radiotv/tv/soupy1.htm
|
And the time he was doing White Fang scripts where you couldn't see
White Fang behind the door - but instead of the regular puppeteer with
the White Fang Paw Puppet, there was a naked chick that couldn't be
seen by the camera. But you could see Soupy's face as his brain was
rebooting - and this was done on *LIVE TV*.
There's a clip available, they have kinescope film cut together with
another angle from a second camera [that camera never shown on the
air, of course] with a different view of the proceedings...

Yeah, I did check at Snopes, or I wouldn't have had those hyperlinks
to post. (Duh! ;-) You think they popped in there on their own?)
But some of it /isn't/ a legend. You can't challenge it if the line
was caught on film. He pushed it as far as he could and really got
away with a lot.
As to the "When I show F, You See K" joke and other ultra-risque
lines attributed to Soupy, I'll bet they thought of it in the writing
room, and he may well have put the flashcards up like that
deliberately to infer the line, but would have stopped short of using
that obvious of a dirty punchline.
The adults would get it, and it'd go sailing safely right over the
kids' heads.

Certainly a step in the right direction I'd say, We, otoh, take
great pains to hide a perfectly normal part of human existence
like sex and then play up and almost revere the bloodiest,
cruelest sadistic scenes that you can imagine.
I watched my little 12 year old grandson playing some video game
where he selected a sawed off 12 gauge with buckshot and crowed
"hey gramps, watch me blow this guy right in two here"
Jesus Christ...what are we teaching them?!?...
