Certainly a step in the right direction I'd say, We, otoh, take
great pains to hide a perfectly normal part of human existence
like sex and then play up and almost revere the bloodiest,
cruelest sadistic scenes that you can imagine.

Yup

There's a clip available, they have kinescope film cut together with
another angle from a second camera [that camera never shown on the
air, of course] with a different view of the proceedings...

BWAHAHAHAHA!

Did you check with www.snopes.com about these? Some of what they say
about
Soupy is just urban legend

Natalie

Yeah, I did check at Snopes, or I wouldn't have had those hyperlinks
to post. (Duh! ;-) You think they popped in there on their own?)

But some of it /isn't/ a legend. You can't challenge it if the line
was caught on film. He pushed it as far as he could and really got
away with a lot.

As to the "When I show F, You See K" joke and other ultra-risque
lines attributed to Soupy, I'll bet they thought of it in the writing
room, and he may well have put the flashcards up like that
deliberately to infer the line, but would have stopped short of using
that obvious of a dirty punchline.

The adults would get it, and it'd go sailing safely right over the
kids' heads.

--<< Bruce >>--

There was also a lot of such 'black humor' in Rocky and Bullwinkle.

Charles of Kankakee

Yup - that's why I'm buying the DVDs - I have seasons 1 & 2 so far

I think this is one of the special "Adult" episodes they made as a Skit.

They only made a couple, and were show late at night, instead of the
usual kids slot.

But some of the normal shows were just about as close to "Risque" as
that one.

FYI, the puppets and the big bear now run a mobile "Rainbow Roadshop"
disco that you can book for large events, Geofrey the odd bloke is
working in a Supermarket stacking shelves, but occasionally gets pulled
out of TV retirement to do TVads, normally about guys who didn't save
for a decent pension/investment when they where making lots of money,
and are now suffering because of it.

Yes, apparently, becomes law sometime in the near future.Reason, because

foxes got hurt. It was too cruel. It's more to do with hunting with dogs
(blokes in red jackets on horses while drunk, chasing a large pack of
hounds accross the countryside in the name of sport), if you have the
relevant paperwork for a firearm (very difficult to get), you can still
shoot foxes or other pests.

See I'm with you on that too.
If it is a pest and attacking live stock (chickens, lambs, other
domestic fowl) blow the fucker away if you can get it.

But don't bring round 40 of your friends on horses, get smashed a 6am
ride where you like a flow a pack of blood thirsty hounds that have been
trained to rip a fox to shreds arround. I don't see any fun in that. But
a hunter and the traditional stalk and shoot (doesn't have to be a gun,
could be a longbow, a crossbow or a slingshot equally) and a good clean
kill, is fine by me, it takes planning, stealth, cunning, skill and
usually an understanding and respect for your prey. One proviso though,
unless it is a pest that is damaging you property/stock and is inedible,
if you kill it, you clean it and cook it.

Foxes are generally considered vermin here in the UK and they do quite
a lot of damage if they ever get into a henhouse....I mean they kill
far more than one or two to eat. As many of you will know, they will
kill every fowl in sight. Actually far more foxes perish every year
as roadkill, than are ever caught by the hunters.

Anyway, the English hunters intend to ignore the new law, when it
comes in next year (Scotland has different hunting laws) and challenge
the police to arrest them all. That should make good television....
