Strange noise when 99 Camry hit some bump |
|
|
I have a 99 Camry with almost 100,000 miles. I noticed that a noise, like
when a couple of marbles are shaken in a tincan, is coming from front tires
particularly when it hits a bumpy road. It is not a loud one, but sometime
it becomes annoying. This will disappear once the car cruises to higher
speed. Is it a sign of serious problems? Any input would be greatly
appreciated. Hong

-- Try popping the wheelcovers (hubcaps) off if it has them, and see if
maybe a pebble has gotten inside.
Every day is a good day- it's just that some are better than others.

Is the noise only there when you hit bumps? If so, it sounds like
your struts need replacing. |

Thanks for all the responses. If the struts need replacing, how much this
would be? Does this need to be replaced immediately? Hong |

Camrys and Avalons in those years had an issue with the front strut mounts
and there were technical service bulletins out about it.
These are just the plates at the top of the struts. You may want to ask
your
dealer to check them first before paying for new struts. |
