Check in your owner's manual or try these steps: |
1) determine which headlight is not working, driver's side or passenger's
side by turning on the headlights. Check both high beam and low beam
headlights.
2) open the hood
3) stand in front of the inoperative headlight and look down into the engine
compartment behind the inoperative headlight.
4) you will see a plastic ring where the wires go to the headlight assembly.
Turn the ring counter-clockwise about a quarter-turn (counter-clockwise if
you were sitting in the engine compartment facing forward).
5) pull the bulb holder back towards the rear of the car, exposing the
headlight bulb
6) pull the headlight bulb out of the holder.
7) install a replacement bulb. Do not touch the glass part of the bulb with
your bare hands. Use a clean paper towel to handle the bulb.
8) reverse the steps to reinstall the bulb.

I wish I had it.

OK, if it's the drivers side light, you may not see it because it is
'behind' the battery. I recently had to change mine.
I take it we are talking about the American-spec (AE10x) Corolla?

No, it is the passenger side.
I have tried turning various things, but nothing will turn.
I do not see a plastic ring. What color should the ring be?
What did you do to change yours?

I would assume so. It is just the standard Corolla. |

I just went out and looked at my Corolla '92...
Do you see the wires going to the headlight?
There is a blue thingy to keep the connector connected?
Forward of that is the locking ring. The ring is just before the
fixture spreads out. Right on the neck. The ring needs to be turned
counter clockwise (ie looking down on it the top part of the ring
needs to go toward the right) perhaps a quarter of a turn and the
connector will pull out.
On mine the battery is right in the way...perhaps you can remove the
battery...
Look at the other side. It is easier to see the assembly and what you
need to do...
BTW if you look straight down at the back of the headlight you can see
the ring thru a hole in a brace...
If you are still having trouble I'll take some pictures of mine and
email them to you. I doubt it has changed from '92 to '93...

Oops... my directions assumed drivers side...lol
The passenger side is much easier...

You realize this group is worldwide? What amounts to a standard '93 Corolla
in the US is not the same Corolla sold in Britain, for instance.
There should be a gray plastic thing on the back of the headlight with the
wires coming out of it. The locking ring should be right there. At least
it is on my '93.

You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.

I will seek it out again. Thank you. |
