Anyone going to Good Guys in Columbus Ohio? |
|
|
I don't know how many people in the group are in reasonable driving range.
I'm hoping to sneak out of work early and get to the swap meet Friday some
time.
Thanks,
Scott

It's only 650 miles from here. Maybe 10 hours conservative driving time in
the Sunbeam. Maybe I can call in sick Thursday.

I went to Des Moines GoodGuys last weekend.... Great weather and a
fantastic turnout. I can't believe how the quality of the cars keeps
improving overall. The swap meet at Des Moines isn't anything to brag
about but there are plenty around the state during the summer anyway.

I'd like to (only 3.5 hrs away), but work's going to keep me near home, dang
it.

Gotta love my news server...I had to go searching the web to get the
replies....grrrr...anyway I finally got them.
Bill, two words "Strong Coffee"..come on down/over/up. Whichever direction
it is for you!....lol
Leon, I drove by there on my way to Yankton NB to pick up my car. You
wouldn't happen to know the name of the HUGE junk yard with all the antique
fire equipment in it, would ya? I drove by it somewhere between Des Moines
and the SD/NB line, but I can't remember exactly where now...and of course,
I have several buddies wanting to go up there now.
Robin, Hmmmm....we need help down here. Does your work do service
calls???? I'm sure they need 'something' at the fairgrounds!
Bill...you coming down? Your not all that far from here.
Have fun all...Since its not going to be so hot Friday, I'll probably take
my 6yo with me. He's been giving me all kinds of ideas of what he wants to
do to the car. Funny, no matter the age, they still pick the most expensive
things.

Well, unless you call my union hall and request stagehands for the event, I'm
doubting I'd get sent there on work. <g> (Though I don't think the Columbus
local would like that.)
I used to live in Cols, at 18th & Summit, back in the early 80s. I still have
friends in New Lexington, Somerset and Zanesville whom I visit now and then,
as time permits.
On another note, friday I got a new starter in my '58 Edsel Pacer (yippie!),
and today the carb shop called, and my Autolite 4100 was finished. Amazing,
since I only dropped it off yesterday at 2pm.
The Edsel's running (and starting) great again, just need to do a minor tweak
to the high idle kick down, and he's there.

Scott,
I've been by that salvage yard too but I have never stopped.
I don't know the name of the yard off the top of my head. I will see if
I can find out & let you know. We are leaving for Texas in the morning
and won't be back 'till next Wednesday though.

Leon,
Thanks. I was going to get the name of it, but had been on the road since
10pm the night before and still had about 3 or 4 hours to drive to pick up
the car....then another 16 hours drive back. On the plus side, having 6,000
lbs of car and trailer behind the truck was a very good way to keep the eyes
open, if not bugged.

Robin,
I had the "luck" of breaking my wrist and am still waiting for the MRI
results to come back. So, I'm pretty useless around the office this week
anyway. Fortunately, the pain has eased considerably, but typing has become
very slow. Not good at all for a programmer/designer <g>.
Sooooo, in order to keep my sanity, I'll force myself to go to the show and
no matter how much it pains me, go through the swap meet, piece by piece.
Don't worry about me though....I'll survive :->
