On a straight six 3.0i M52 engine, there are two oil indicators: orange
oiler and red oiler.
The the orange one sequence determines the urgency for oil addition. ISTR
also that the last red LED of the service indicator (LED bar) also turns on
when the period is exceeded (oil service needed). Verify because it never
happened to me. No impact on the engine. Get the car serviced as soon as
possible.
Depending on the oil quality and the way you drive, distance between oil
services may be 25000 km or less.
Personnaly, I don't wait more than 20000 km, even with two service leds
remaining on.

For the engine safety:
- If the orange oiler lits just after you turn the key off: the oil level is
a bit low, it remains around 0.5 l before the min is reached.
There is 1l difference between the two marks. Don't wait but without
emergency. No cornering admitted however !
- Orange oiler coming whilst driving. Stop soon and add oil. The level is
close to the min.
- Red oiler while driving: stop immediately and verify/add oil. It might
also be a pressure failure.

On my car, depending on the roads and the way I drive the car, the oil
consumption may be 0.1 liter for 1000 km (mainly highways) to 0.4 liter
(mountain roads with lotta engine brake). Typically an average of 0.12 /
0.16 l with 15W40 and 0.25 l with 5W40.

Concerning the air bag, this sounds to be a failure. Check if there is a
concordance between the oil warning and the air bag one.
How long was the car driven since the last service was done or since the
last time oil was added ?
I would also be interrested to compare the oil consumptions (with comparable
engines, of course).

He asked me to send it back so they could do so, and then return it to me
(Australia). I haven't heard from them since. So they have my money and my
module... that was 1 year ago... very annoying. So I bought one from
www.tvonnav.com - they have a module for people with the TV tuner already.
The quality of their product made the tv-free one look like something a
5-year-old put together. The TVonNav module also had all the plugs ready to
go - not fiddling with pins, etc. .

Well I'm assuming it's the rack, as it's now on it's second replacement, but after picking it up on Saturday, the problem is still there - could it be anti roll bars or shocks or something else causing this? - What was the eventual outcome with yours

Would appreciate any feedback, as my main dealer in Bedford seem content to fit steering racks every month in the hope it will cure it

Make sure the
alloy wheels
is cool. Never spray a wheel cleaner on a hot wheel as it can cause a chemical reaction and permanently stain the wheel. Rinse first or depending upon the chemical. Severely dirty wheels with plastic center caps should be removed first to avoid possible damage. Start spraying wheel cleaner from the bottom up to avoid streak runs. Wheel faces should be cleaned with a wash mitt or a soft brush. A parts solvent brush can be used around lug nuts and a soft toothbrush in the nooks and crannies. After all the wheels have been done, move the vehicle forward to expose the upper portion of the wheel that would have not been cleaned properly during the initial wheel cleaning process. After washing, wheels should be polished and waxed.

problem now cured with a 29p part from Calterdon BMW in inverness, that
includes VAT !!!
